Hatchling update & many pics!

ReptilesRampant Jul 10, 2006 05:41 PM

Well, I had a 100% hatch rate (15/15) June 10 with 8 normals and 7 aneries and since then the babies have shed twice and most have eaten their third meal already. Three babies, however, have decided to starve themselves to death, so they will be staying with me for a few months (or forever ) till they are in tip-top shape. And wouldn't you know it, my two major zigzaggers are both boys and my fave of those two is one of the noneaters! I plan on keeping both of them and the only anery female. Some young friends of the family (7 and 10yo) came to see the babies and named my two boy keepers Genie and Harley (to follow my alphabetic naming system.) I haven't decided on a female "I" name for an anery, so I am open to suggestions. (She has no distinguishing markings, just a plain ole anery. So, on with the pics! Okay, I just clicked "Preview message" and the pics are huge! I have them on Photobucket and have tried Edit then Reduce Size but it isn't doing anything! Any pointers would be great, because I know most people (including me) hate it when you have to sroll across just to see the snake. I won't post the rest of the photos till I find out how to resize, sorry! (Unless you reeeeally want me to post many many large pics?)

My fave zigzag, a normal with AMAZING oranges, Harley. (before shed)

Same after shed (only somewhat decent pic I could get of his colors.)

Very nice looking snake.
someone said www.imagereducer.com was a way to reduce the size of pics. Never tried it myself though. Any picture is fine, if you wanna post, people will either look, or not, if they don't like the size

This is my keeper anery zigzag, Genie, who is also the worst tempered snake of the bunch.

Before shed

And after shed

A good pic of his pattern

And more to come!

I put the babies in a 10 gallon for the 1st week. They had one of those big hollow water bowls with a notch cut out of it so they all crowded underneath.

And some pics of eggs and pippies.

And some pics of my homemade rack to come!

Our homemade rack! I am so proud of this; it is the first thing I have ever made successfully from wood! Right now it has 5 across and I am only using the first three rows, but it can hold a total of 24 Sterilite 6-quarts. It only took two days to build! I think the total cost was around $85, including wood, Sterilites, and accessories. There are also 5 boards nailed to the back for support and so the cages don't go straight through when you push them back. 4'x 2'x 16". (LxHxW) So, on with the pics!

Hope you enjoyed!
