What part of SoCal? I haven't seen a single San Diego this year. So far, 3 P.c. desrticolas & 1 DOR Pacific.

Wow! You were up north, and that's a Pacific Gopher!?! Looks alot like the San Diegos (L.A., Orange, San Diego locales)down here. I've had a chance to see some pics of the Pacifics and the one DOR from the southern most tip of their range out in Lancaster. The base color for the ones out there is more of a tan or light brown. The sort of straw yellow on that one in your pics has a base color even patterning similar to San Diegos. Great pics of a great snake.
