Hermans just wants to bury and sleep

terrygar Jul 11, 2006 09:46 AM

Hello I have a male cb 3 yr Hermans male. We live in the San Francisco bay area and hes out all the time. temps of 56-78.
When we take him from his habitat (direct sun and shaded with hides) and put him in the yard, he will move about and check out everything for hours. He eats well and poops normally.
We have never hibernated him, he stays inside in a large indoor habitat in winter,
LAtely he buries himself and wants to sleep alot.

The only thing that has happened to change anything is that one day early this spring he got into the habitat of the Burmese Black mtn we care for. Nothing happened. But I hope a virius didn't transfer, this was in may?
Any info would be great.

I just looked up weather for San Francisco for the last 7 days.

5 out of those 7 days had highs in the 60s, and the other two days reached the 80s.

Could be it isn't quite warm enough to get him out and running around. It won't harm him, but it isn't quite to his liking.

My russians tend to hide a lot even when it's sunny and in the 80s and 90s. It's a cycle of wake up, bask, graze, hide a lot, graze, sleep.
