Reptile Safe Bug Repellent?

mattcm Jul 11, 2006 10:42 PM

I have a 2 year old Red-Footed Tortoise and his tank has been recently invaded by some type of small beetle. Today I found about 7 hanging out in there. They seem to really enjoy the high humidity levels. I kill all that I can spot daily, but I doubt that is all of them. I am concerned that the bugs running around in there might stress little Bailey out. I have replaced the substrate since noticing this problem a couple of months ago, and this temporarily solved the problem. I could do so again, but I was hoping for a more permanent solution. Is anyone aware of Bug Repellent that is Reptile Friendly? I doubt such a thing exists, so any other suggestions are more than welcome.
Thanks a bunch,
Matt

Since your tort is two years old, it's likely large enough where the small bugs arn't a menace. I wouldn't worry about them.

To answer your question, no, I don't know of any bug killers that I'd use in a tortie cage.
