not eating

chondrolove Jul 12, 2006 04:05 AM

My green tree python just turned a year old. Ive had him for a long time and he has always hammered f/t fuzzies pretty much any time they were offered. All of a sudden he just decided to stop eating a few weeks ago. He went through a shed 2 weeks ago so he didnt eat for week prior, which is still odd for him, but i just ignored that cuz of the shed. After the shed, he has been a pain to get to eat, which concerns me. So he basically has had 1 fuzzy in the last 2-3 weeks. He went from striking at any movement cuz he was always hungry, to being shy with food, and actually quite friendly in personality.

Is this odd behavior or typical behavior for a chondro? His temps are perfect, humidity is good. His personality is totally different, which makes for a better pet i guess, but horrible eater. anyone have ideas whats going on? am i just being paranoid about his new eating habits?

He's a little young, but sometimes the males don't eat regularly at breeding time. I suppose if he's a mature kind of guy, he might start going off the food now. Is he an import? If he is, I'd have him checked for something, otherwise, I'd watch him carefully to see what happens. He's just probably being a male.

Youre on morelia right? I have the sib to yours. he is a male and i did hear that males can be like that, but i thought he seemed young to act like that. Maybe i should give him another week or two before i start worrying, but it is quite a change in personality.
