ok guys i need some help

MatPrice Aug 02, 2003 12:09 PM

i have this female leo that just will not eat in the last month she has had maybe 3 super worms and about 6 meal worms.

she is in a 10 gal with UTH
temps are 88-90 warm 75-80 cool
she is 88 took her temp with my temp gun
i have done 5 fecel exams on her
the first three had a small amount of pin worms i probably should have let it go but i went ahead and treated her with panacure anyway. last couple have been clear of everything.
she has weighed 42 grams for the last 3 months so she isn;t loosing weight. but her tail isn;t big and fat but it isn;t srill and skinny either.
she has access to meal worms 24-7 calcium and vits water which i she drinks as i have seen her drink.

things i have tried to get her to eat better
smashed mealworm on her
cricket guts
and just left her be for weeks at a time only disturbing her to drop in mealworms or clean on the rare occasion she goes.

i am going to gice her baby food today via monoject
any other ideas

BTW this was a petco gecko that i just felt sorry for and picked up on sale for like 15 bucks

I am new to geckos but i was looking at your tank and noticed that you have duct tape in it. I have no idea if this is even possible but i just thought about it, perhaps there is some sort of toxin on duct tape that is causing your leo to be sick. Probably not but just a thought.

she wasn't eating before the ducttape over her hide that was an attempt to insulate her hide some for heat and humidty and provide a bit more privacy.

i don't think its a problem because it is just stuck to the hide. if she was eating duct tape thani would concerned.

thanx

the duct tape is ok, i have duct tape in some of my gecko cages. i noticed you don't have a humid hide, unless its that flipped over plastic container, but it doesnt look like it. you should add one, and if it takes up to much room, take out the hide on the hot side. i doubt this is the reason she isnt eating, but it should help her in other ways. i have no idea why she isnt eating.

Hmm. it seems like ure temps are great. I know my geckos like to eat in private or in the dark. Try keeping the cage in a dark room or put a surronding around the tank like you know those little wallpaper sheets u can buy or make of the computer. Try keeping itlike that with a lot of privacy. Some leos are just peeky eatiers. Also if the weight is mantaining then s/he has ot be eating something. So try to give some turkey baby food, that usually works well.

Good luck
