followup to last week's axanthic gene query...that clutch was produced by breeding a snow female to an axanthic whiteside male and hatched out about 50:50 normals and(blue)axanthics. apparently from what was posted in the previous thread, this snow female is homozygous for black and white axanthic and het for black and blue(lemke or new england, I know not which one) axanthic. so these normal hatchlings are quadruple hets and the axanthics are triple hets. not what i expected but interesting none the less.
even more interesting (to me anyhow)is what's hatching out today... i bred a "extreme orange " lavender albino het axanthic male to a whiteside female. so far i have one normal hatchling (expected) out and two PINK snouts (unexpected)peeking out of their egg. interesting, what is that from? i no longer feel there are miracles in play here hahaha, just some hidden genes from pairings i was unaware of...so this white side female is het for something recessive and allelic to genes of this male she bred with.
pic one is the male axanthic white side with the snow, the second pic is the X-O albino male with the white side female.
As soon as some of these shed I will get some pics up.
