For Robyn re: roaches and the barrier

Jeff Lemm Jul 12, 2006 01:26 PM

Hey Robyn,
I have never wanted hissers, not because they are not good food items, but because they are a pain and get out by climbing glass. Your Bug-off stuff rocks! I have a huge colony of hissers (primarily for my prasinus) and I tried that stuff today. Wow, what a difference - just wanted to say thanks. All of you folks with climbing bugs should try this stuff!

hey Jeff, hissers are probably the number one favorite monitor meal around here, and the bug stop makes breeding and feeding them doable : )

glad to hear the feedback : )

As per hissers vs other roach species that don't climb, why do you choose hissers? The large size? Do they have smaller wings and head sheilds(they kinda look irritating to swollow at times - adult blaberus)?

Just curious as I might want to expand my roach collection when I get some bigger stuff.

Thanks, Ian

we feed more Lobster roaches than any other insects, and the Hissers are much slower to breed and grow, but yes, it is mostly their size, and apparently their smell/flavor, cause the monitors go nuts for them, moreso than the other roaches : )
