WHAT THE? I smell Babies?????

southernboids Jul 12, 2006 05:22 PM

Now this is.. well just plain odd. My female albino had 10 babies today, the odd part is she has had contact with NO male since January.

I had a Proven DH Sunglow in with her until January- but no one since, not for cleaning day, not for anything. I have heard of retained sperm and never knew what to really think and now look at this??!!.

I had NO idea she was gravid and I have been feeding her normal plus a little extra to prep for this year. To top it off, for some odd reason I even had her out last week to show her off to some friends and even let some people hold her. I never do this.... nor do they usually care to hear, see or talk about them.

I have my doubts any will make it.. some look full term but still have huge sacks outside.. I have them all tucked in and will see what happens.

For me it seems newborns sure are hard to decide if they are actually ALIVE at all. 8 out of 10 passed the test, most with just chest movements after I prodded a little. Poor little guys and gals.

10 babies.. 6 Sunglow / albino 2 normal 2 hypo

Congrats!!! But it doesn't really sound all that odd. It would if it was January of '05!! Just sounds like she ovualated a little later and stored a bit of sperm for a couple of months......Congrats again!!!!

Did she have any slugs or stillborns? Hopefully that babies will make it. I've had some little ones that were born with huge yolks pull through so I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. Seems like you did get pretty good odds though!
