is sand alright????????????

hey

i think my beardeds need a new substrate. having kitty litter is bad because its filling them up with dust..

i think i might try sand. has any1 had any difficulties with sand, like compaction or sore eyes??
is sand the best substrate?
(my beardeds are adults)

all posts would b greatly appreciated.

and this is in a indor enclosure

I tried sand and did not like it and i think as a result my female would only defecate when given a warm bath. I am now trying brown paper but want to try shelf liner that has been aired out for a week or so to allow it to completely off gas its plastic odors.

I would say try tile, vinyl flooring, shelf liner, news paper, paper towels.

Sand is not necessarily the substrate of the natural habitat of the BD, i believe it is hard packed soils of the woodland regions of south eastern australia.

oh and another thing, sand seems to store the smell of the lizards poo, ewwww. smelly......

Sand is terrible for young dragons, and decent for adults IF you filter it through a screen. Newspaper is the best but I use sand because it looks better and easier to clean.
