Albino Blotchless Everglades

stevefounduk Jul 13, 2006 07:12 AM

Hi...

I bred my pair of Blotchless everglades this year. Got a clutch of 11 eggs of which 9 hatched so I am, of course, very pleased indeed.

The main reason I bred them is that they were both possibly het for albino, and as one of my babies IS an albino... that does rather prove that they are hets pretty well

Question is... does anyone have any pictures of adult albino blotchless everglades ?? I want to see what I can expect if I hold it back and grow it on. The non-albinos of these are fantastic anyway and the striping on the babies is awesome.

Steve.

I gotta plead confusion here. Adult everglades are striped vs Blotched snakes. Are you sure we are talking about an Everglades? Here is a pic of an adult amelanistic Everglades.

Thanks. I think he's amazing. He's currently opaque but I'll get a fresh picture next week. I owe you one.
Jason, you're point is well taken. To qualify as a true amelanistic, they onviously can't show any vestiges of stripes or blotches. Most of what I see always has some signs of stripes like the little gal below. I love her color but she does have light striping. Clearly despite her color, she is not amelanistic.

Your breeding results show that both snakes are carriers for a recessive trait. Congrats!!

Thank you ....

Have to say I was over the moon when I saw the pink head poke its way out of the shell

I have yet to see a straight Everglades in person that was albino/amel. All I have seen are hypos, and the nicer ones are even toned down the back with no visible blotches. I just got a female from my line back from the guy I sold her to and she has very little pattern. I think someone may have oversold the animals to you. They sound a whole lot cooler as "patternless" or "blotchless" "albinos" than just plain hypos. I may be way off base here but not from what I have seen.

Also I have found more variation in what people will sell as "Everglades" than any other snake. I have seen the ever common yellow rats spiced up with a everglades title. I have seen many animals from the "bubble gum" line sold as just everglades even though they have the black rat albino genes in them. So you may have a pair from outcrossed bubblegums that are albino. But as far as I know there is no albino line of everglades that are descended from WC stock. I believe Dwight Good has detailed info on the stock lines of glades that he posted once.

If anyone has good info to the contrary please let me know.

Later Jason

These are the Blotchless everglades as named by Kathy Love in 2003/2004.They are genetically devoid of saddles throughout life... These are pictures of mum and two of here babies... the babies are less than 1 hour old in these pictures. I believe that the snake was renamed as xanadu rats ???

This is a female I obtained from dwight good several years ago, I bred her into an albino bubblegum line before I sold/gave away the project to a friend, awesome snakes....( she died )

Thank you for the Post Frank... I saw your beautiful female on a search I did before posting which it what prompted me to post here asking about the albinos.

Given that my pair are now four years old, it cant be long after the Love's and yourself gave the projects up that I got my pair ??

I would be interested to find out how they found their way to the UK and if they are therefore from the original line.

They are indeed stunning animals.

unreal, I do not have any pictures of them, I don't own a camera believe it or not, i must get one, the albinos where three different colors, yellow ones, white ones, and orange looking ones, very odd indeed, all of the ones i bred where only het for blotchless, so all the albino babies where blotched, i bred dwight goods blotchless glades into the bubblegum line to improve it, I have seen some of the babies as adults they are awesome. should have kept some, oooppppsssss
