FL Press: Trappers to remove Boa

Jul 13, 2006 07:26 AM

WTSP (Tampa Bay, Florida) 12 July 06 Trapping company in Orange County called to remove large snake
Orange County, Florida: A trapping company in Orange County has a big job to do: remove an eight-foot boa constrictor from underneath a house.
Neighbors spotted a red tail boa earlier this week huddled beneath a home in their neighborhood. And authorities believe the boa must have been released by its owner.
Residents are now worried the snake might try to eat nearby pets or even a small child. So they are keeping their pets inside, in case the boa comes out at night.
Some have tried using lights, shovels and rakes to get the snake out, but it hasn't budged.
Today, the trapping company will use a caged rat as bait to coax the boa constrictor out.

....small child?....caged rat?......
I guess as a community if we can't keep our snakes in our cages we deserve the bad press.....

....a 8' boa has a hard enough time eating a 5lb rabbit let alone a small child (to date no human has been killed by a boa constrictor....as far as i know)...as for cats and dogs...well they would more likely kill the boa than the other way around,im more worried about the poor snake.
