first eggs ever?

mack1time Jul 13, 2006 02:38 PM

My female corn has finnaly laid 9 fertile eggs on july 11th. I have a couple questions. I have followed all the guidelines for incubating from Kathy Loves book and i am wondering it has been 2 days now. Do the eggs eventually dry and get hard shelled like chicken eggs or will they always stay soft to the touch? And if the father was a anery type A and the mother a snow what can i be expecting?

The eggs will be "soft" to the touch but they will get alittle bigger as time goes on, then as hatching time nears they will dimple and then hatch....Good luck...
You "should" get Anery A het for Amel....

You will only get snows and amels if you're anery is het for amel. If he isn't, you will get all anerys. (Unless of course BOTH parents are het for something else, then you could get a bunch of surprises) The eggs should stay soft the whole time. Congrats and good luck!

What do you mean by soft. Pic would help. They might be slugs if they are still soft!

i know once my chickens lay their eggs, they are automatically hard...as my corn eggs arent soft like a kitten, they are kinda leathery-like.
