mold in terrarium..

Bergmantis Jul 13, 2006 03:11 PM

I have an elaborate terrarium set up for my tree frogs with layers of gravel, peat moss, and sphagnum moss, with a waterfall, etc..anyways, i found that some white mold/fungi(not fuzzy though...looks like frosting, or wax) is starting to grow underneath a wooden log. Is this bad to have existing in the tank? If so, how do you clean such elaborate terrariums without replacing everything?

thanks,

mat

I had the same thing happen when I first setup mine and asked the same question! I was told it was a normal part of the process and it was fine.

My tank didn't have any frogs in it yet so I didn't worry too much about it and within a month or so it cleared itself up. My frogs didn't go in until almost 3 months after setting it up so I don't know if that's a factor or not.
