More later.

Remind me of any I forgot,

Last observed breeding: Feb 12
Number of litter: 15

Number of slugs: 1 (I did not witness this birth and cannot be certain that no slugs were consumed)

# of stillborns: 0

# of obvious congenital defects/developmental defects: 0

Weights by gram:
1=34G
2=32G
3=36G
4=34
5=32
6=36
7=28
8=32
9=32
10=30
11=36
12=32
13=30
14=32
15=28
Slug=18

Since I didn't get to observe the birthing, I don't really know how much yolk was left on them. I didn't find anything more than what I'd describe as a thick cord left for no more than 5/8" on any of them. Overall I am pleased with the way they look....nicer markings than I remember this pair ever producing and a little brighter looking in color. I will get some pics soon.

I was hoping for a bigger litter.....but I am thrilled to have these and think this is the best that this pair has offered.

With 15 babies and 36 grams, you are leading the pack so far! I know, it's still early.

I have never enjoyed being a leader in anything. I prefer to be #1 support staff. This is the first time I have weighed any babies and I have no idea how weights compare to what is considered the average weight. All I know is that babies are completely awesome and I hope everyone will submit their data for your research, you have the tough job with the interpretation and organization of the info you receive.

Nonsense, you're leading the way in terms of female brazilian rainbow boa breeders. As for the data collection, feel free to make it as tough as possible. Keep the numbers coming!

Congratulations Linda! Now we want to see pictures. Was this litter from your first female? She's been good to you.
Paul

Sunshine Jul 14, 2006 10:14 PM

...first female, third litter. They have gotten smaller each season and I know not why. Pics will come soon.

Thanks Paul.

....please remember that I am still new....I am very proud of the babies but cannot compete with you guys. My experience is limited and these babies were produced from my original pair which aren't as nice looking as my future breeders.

I was totally cool and relaxed only checking cages a couple times a day until Linda had this litter. Now I am thinking every one of my gravid females must be late or something. It is now 3 in the morning and I'm still up pacing.

Chris,
I meant to correct that "c". Anyway....I am in the process of feeding them right now. They are so cute when they're still so uncoordinated/inexperienced at striking. I'm going to have to take pics quickly, I am 90% sure I just sold all of them without even deciding which one I may want to keep.

Thanks,
Linda
