I am having problems with keeping my animals and temp probe in the same tub together as they continue to move it around including moving it to the cool side of the cage. I have tried Velcro, tape…

My idea was to completely set up a tub with the probe on the warm side under the hide but just not put an animal in it.

Can anyone think of any cons to this idea? I’m hoping this will keep my temps more consistent.

THX.

My probe is on the heat tape outside the tub. I know on my baby rack that if the heat tape is at 95F then inside the tub is at 91F. For the adults I keep it at 100F and the tub hot side stays at 94F, this one is back heat and the babies are belly heat.

That's exactly what I do on one of my racks - to maintain an ambient temp.

My probe is also on the tape outside the box.

I also put my probe on the heat tape. Invest in a temp gun to check temps in the rack and figure out what to set your thermostat at to achieve the right temp inside the tubs. My temp are generally about 4-5 degrees cooler inside the rack than the thermostat is set at. Hope this helps.
