juanher666 Jul 13, 2006 10:57 PM

Hi i have question about breedenig feeders mice. I started breeding mice by accident, petco gave me one male and two females, so anyway they started breeding and having babys.so by the second bacth the male died first and then the female died second. They had plenty of food and water, new bedding every week and a fan when it was hot. So my question is, was it natural causes or is it something i did or wha. any suggestions.

used to work at a pet store. It is possible that with two females they may have attacked him (although usually mice of both sexes are good with babies.) You didn't say if he was marked or biten at all? Mice die from so many reasons. Old age is possible (they only live 1-3 years ) and petco may have had him a while. The stress of moving may have made him stop eating or whatever. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just keep an eye on the rest. The females will breed with their sons so no use buying a replacement male. Just be sure to feed them high quality foods for your snakes sake.
