Possible Snow Trans-Pecos Rats This Year

dustyrhoads Jul 13, 2006 11:28 PM

Today I pulled out my triple het female from one of the triple het males' cage after being with him for almost 5 days, and there were bite marks on her body!

This is usually a sure sign of breeding with subocs. So if we get good eggs from her, then the very first snow suboc ever would be a real possibility this season.

By the way, I also have two silver blonde females that should have triple het eggs in them! One of them should lay in about 6-8 days. The other is so fat it is hard to tell, but I am almost certain she is gravid.

Should be a good year for really rare subocs if all goes well!

That should make for some interesting hatching. Good luck and I hope it snows for you. Later, Randy

Yeah, this hatch should be like Christmas. Any "paint job" with any pattern are possibilities.

That sounds great Dusty.A real accomplishment.I wish I could just get my normal male and blonde female to hook up.Been putting them together for that last month and nothing.

Don't worry yet. Mike Price has more subocs than anyone in the country (and probably in the world) and I believe some of his haven't bred yet either.

Subocs are sometimes called "Christmas rats" in the hobby due to their late breeding habits and when babies usually begin to become available.

Keep putting them together and good luck!
