Here's a pic of my new adult female. She's around 6' and extremely sweet in temperament, supporting all the positive recommendations people on this forum have given NPs. A lady brought her to a pet store a friend of mine owns, and my friend gave her to me. She joins a pair I bought from John Cherry to form a 1.2 breeding group.

That is a very good specimen right there! I love the blackish coloring on her head too, as I am looking for one like that.

...to breed her. I guess she's been kicking out infertile eggs the last couple years (never been with a male). I thought she was a pretty typical specimen, but she sure gets the compliments from everyone who sees her! Definitely providential that my friend ended up with her right at the time he knew I was getting into NPs. How old do males need to be (or how big) to breed? The male I got from John Cherry's 24" now, but I don't know how much he'll grow by next Spring. I assume he'd have to be at least 4' to breed.

Although I have never bred northerns, I think 4 ft should be good for your male. Perhaps someone with northern pine breeding experience could chime in?
