I got my gecko on monday. Tuesday night he ate one cricket. Since then he has not ate anything. Is this normal? What can I do to get him to eat? Thanks.

P.S. He is between 5 and 6 inches in length, if this helps.

Is it alright to use mealworms as the main part of the diet? Alot of care sheets say no, crickets are the best, but alot of people on this board seem to like the mealworms. Thanks again.

One more question. If I have a dish of calcium in the aqarium, should it be with or without vitamin D3? I don't want to poison my Leo. Thanks for all the patience.

Terry, first off, you only just got him Monday. Give him a week to adjust to the new surroundings. No harm will come to him if he doesn't eat for that week and by the end of thst time he WILL be hungery LOL. Mealworms and crickets are both good foe Leos. Feed one or the other or both, your choice, unless he shows a preference. As for the D3. This is needed in Leos to help in the absorbtion of the calcium, so Yes it is necessary. Hope this helps.

Do NOT leave D3 around your tank. Too much is hazardous to your reptile leave pure calcium around and dust feeders with D3.
