I want to switch to pre-killed rats

Mehen Aug 02, 2003 02:07 PM

Well, I have 2 BP's, one is a yearling and the other is about 3 months. I have been feeding them on live rats and would like to know the best place to get fk rats. Is it cheaper to get them over the internet?

You can ask the petstore to kill it for you if you are not sure on how to go about doing this to not cause the rat any unecessary suffering.

Can't you buy frozen rats online for cheap?

Well, I don't know anything about that...sorry! I think maybe you ask the petstore to special order them for you from wholesailers.

Yes you can find them online cheap. But if you only have two snakes it may not be worth the shipping costs. Get your snakes feeding consistently on thawed rats before ordering online. Consider looking in classifieds or checking with local herp societys to find people like me who breed too many rats. I gladly sell SUPER cheap to locals who are interested in bags of frozen rats.

most chain petshops sell quality frozen rodents i know petco supplies gourmet rodent, and if you're just buying 2 or 3 at a time it won't break you ( you're looking at 2 bucks for a small rat, give or take 50 cents) there's also suppliers like rodentpro.com
gourmentrodent.com
frozenrodent.com and tons of others where you can buy in bulk but like said before shipping is a pain. The best way to get bulk is to go to shows you can 99% of the time find a dealer of frozen rodents at reptile shows real cheap

i wish you the best switching them over to f/t you might wanna check out pro exotics website they have a great article on how to successfully switch your animals over, it helped me out a great deal
