Newbie Here

Well you guys have a newbie to boa breeding here. I had a large colombian male and introduced him to a new female that I have purchased from a friend. She is 5 years old and he is also 5 years old. Both snakes approach 7 foot in length and are very girthy. He immediately starting riding her around the cage and will sit on top of her for hours. I have not witnessed them locking up or anything. What do you guys think? The male and the female have not been cooled to my knowledge but they are exposed to natural light and temperature conditions in south Florida.

Sounds like a good start and he, at least, is ready to do his thing. If it were me, I would separate them and then reintroduce them again when it cools off a bit in December. I am in South Florida too and put my pair together last winter for the first time. They courted for a few weeks and then he bred her repeatedly over the course of a couple of months. Got a nice, healthy litter of 15 a couple of weeks ago! Good luck!

Billy thanks for the information.

a virgin female needs more "riding" to stimulate the growth of follicles inside her. They could do that for many weeks before actually copulating. That is my experience anyway.
