WSAV (Savannah, Georgia) 12 July 06 Why Did the Alligator Cross the Road?
If you ran into some heavy traffic on President Street late last night, it may have been due to this tough-skinned critter.
The seven-foot reptile tried to cross the road near President and Capitol Street and was hit by a car. The west bound land had to be shut down while wranglers tried to get the gator out of the road.
The woman that was driving the car that hit the gator is okay but the gater was badly injured and had to be put down.
Alligator Trapper Jack Douglas says besides the injuries, alligators longer than six feet typically are put down because of the threat they pose.
