what are chances of not hatching pastels

rkkonstriktors Jul 14, 2006 02:32 PM

Here's the deal. I bred my pastel to 3 different females. I also bred my het pied male to the same 3 females
as a back up. I got a clutch out of all 3 females. First clutch of 5 I got 3 normal males and 1.1 pastels.
Second clutch I got 1.5 normals and last clutch I got 1.5 normals. Reason I ask is I am assuming the het pied got the other two females as some of the babies have his marker. My question is could I sell these as poss hets or should I just sell as normals? I plan on keeping a couple females with the markers. What are the odds of not producing a pastel if he was the father?

They could possibly have been sired by both(and the normals could all be from the pastel)..so there is no telling which was which at this point...sorry.

If it were me..i would just hold onto all of the females.Should you decide to sell them however. Then disclose everything you have here and let the buyer decide on the odds.

I have the WORST LUCK FOR ODDS!!!

We did 29 eggs from spider to normal and only got 3 Spiders.

I have on many occasions whiffed out on 7-8 eggs co-dom to normal and got ALL NORMS!!!

Easy to do that!

List them as possible hets, but price them near the cost of a normal CBB and list the details.

For a six egg clutch, your odds of producing no pastels (with a pastel as dad) are the same as your odds of producing ALL pastels - 1/32.

Either you have NERD's luck, or those clutches were sired by your het pied .
