Hurrah, Hurrah, He's eating!!

barker109 Aug 02, 2003 02:34 PM

Just had to let CheriS and others know that my sunburst that's been sick and medicated, ate his salad and several giant mealworms today. I gave him some Acidophilus yesterday because he was basically on shut down mode. I'm sure his guts were just a mess. Well, anyway it worked and he's eating. I refilled his salad bowl in hopes that he may eat more. That's it for now.
Take care,
Karen

Do you have any other info on the Acidophilus ? What is it and what does it do? And do you have to get it form your vet?

peace,
nate

With the good bacteria that activates digestion killed off with treatment for coccidia and other parasites, worms and infections... they just don't know they are hungry. Add that back into them and the change is usually almost within hours.

Probiotic can be bought in several places.
My favorite is called Acidolphiliz that is made for reptiles PetSmart was carrying it, but I think we have wiped them out lately around the country. I ordered some cases of it so if anyone can not locate it locally, email me.

Made for humans and can be used is:

Another good product is Nature Way's liquid capsules and you can give them 3 drops of that a day.

Jarrow Brand in HEalth food stores, non dairy acidophilis, its in a capsule and powder form, sprinkle 1/3- 1/2 on their crickets, salads or mix with water/gatorade and give to them.

Also we have been told that Walmarts carries a acidophilis called Rexall brand acidophilis.
