Hello Everyone,
I have an adult pair of panther chameleons, the male I have had for 6 months with no problems at all. The female is starting to develop some problems. She has good weight as far as her stomach area, but her legs are very thin and somewhat weak. I feed them crickets (not as gut-loaded as they could be), waxworms, and the male gets superworms. I keep them at 88 to 90 degrees under a ZooMed Infrared heat. They have a ZooMed Reptisun 10.0 on them 12 hours a day. I mist them 2-3 times per day and the female has a dripper since i noticed her acting strangely. All of their food is dusted with MinerAll I. I feel like there is something missing in the supplementation, as far as my experience with other reptiles. She seems to be deteriorating in health and is drinking a lot of water. Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Are they is separate cages? If they are in separate cages can they see each other? How old is the female?

Is her background color dark? Does she have some place to lay eggs? Females can lay eggs without having been mated. If she hasn't got a suitable place to lay her eggs, she could be heading towards eggbinding.

You said..."She seems to be deteriorating in health and is drinking a lot of water"...drinking lots of water can be a sign that egglaying is near if its accompanied by other signs. It can also be a sign of renal problems. Deteriorating health can have many causes....incorrect husbandry, illness, etc.

Weakness can be a sign of MBD too. I assume that the UVB is not passing through plastic or glass? Does she get any direct sunlight?

Is the infrared light near the UVB light? I've never used anything but an incandescent bulb for heat. I'm not sure how much infrared is good for chameleons...or how much your bulb puts out.

Not saying that this is part of the problem, but I always provide a dripper for all my chameleons.

I would recommend that you take her to a vet ASAP.

I will take her to the vet then, because I seem to be doing everything else right.
