I'm going down to the trans pecos area in september and just wanted to find out some good spots. Would really like to find some nice gray bands and subocs.

Bobby,

Early September can be a good month for Trans-pecos Ratsnakes. By the end of the month, it will be too cool at night.

Early September can be good for venomous species as well. Otherwise, read the post a few posts below yours.

the best month for movement of crotalid and Elaphe ( my old school of scientific latin still ). Probably leading up to the lunar phase of the dark of the moon but beyond that, tricky in weather as possibly getting somewhat cooling off at night to make it past a certain time beyond mid-night. The River area seems to hold the heat longer even in this month with some portions of Val Verde and Terrell doing the same. Normally the Davis and 118 south of Alpine cools down fast. I've seen Juno and 277 do the same. Also sometimes in my second to middle of Sept. had storm fronts move in from the north that made looking almost impossible. Out of over 50 trips down, 10 or about as in Sept. with more than half being productive but the other being absolutely non-productive. But that doesn't sound any worse than some are experiencing NOW ! LOL !
