Here's some new pics of my Tenn. locality Black king. A super laid back king, with a very glossy, jet black color. The ventral patterns on some nigra are very nice. Thanks for looking.

Nice looking snake. But then I am partial to all black snakes.
Same with me Ibrat. In addition to this black king, I have a Mexican Black king, and a black ratsnake. Glossy black snakes are an impressive animal.

I can't believe you guys don't have a black milk snake!!! They are incredible! Calm, AMAZING EATERS, and get BIG... Here's a pic of mine at the age of 2 months and 18 months...

... breed these guys? They are surely underrated but the only ones I ever see are wild caught.
Every once in a while you can find CB nigra. I scan the classifieds and every once in a while I'll see them for sale. That's how I found my CB nigra, from Exotic Pets out of Las Vegas. There also was an ad about two months ago that had a wild caught and a CB black king for sale. Both were Ky. locality animals.
Peter Jolles out of East Coast Colubrids (ECC)is working with CB nigra (Alabama locality). They can be hard to find, but if you keep a sharp eye out, you'll see them pop up once in a while.

I bred Alabama locale Eastern Black Kings last year. Unfortunately, my female died this year. I do have a subadult female to pair up with the remaining male. May be a year or two before she is ready.
I am also working with 1.2 Trigg Cty, Kentucky nigra which are very nice. These may breed in two years (hopefully).
I totally agree that nigra are underrated. I am actively searching for additional LOCALITY nigra to add to my collection. So if anyone else out there is working with nigra with specific locality data, please don't hesitate to E-mail me.
Also feel that the speckled king is also very much underappreciated. I work with several locales of speckled kings and am always looking for additional locale specific speckleds as well.

I also breed Alabama local black kingsnakes, Dekalb county, Jackson, and Madison locals..
Cool snake,,,,looks like it does not have much in the way of speckles huh? I acually like all the looks they sport, and think the belly is neat too. Tom Stevens
