I have gotten animals from both locals that look exactly alike over the last few years. Guyana, French guiana , Surinams IMO are basically the same animal. Where they were caught is the only thing that puts the name on em. Koky

I did not think there were any physical differences between the two especially with Surinam, Guyana, and French Guiana be so close.

Thanks for the input.

The people who believe there IS a difference between these localities probably will not post their thoughts, just because they don't feel like dealing w/ the crap that goes along with it. But, there are definitely people who feel that an animal from the western region of Guyana is absolutely different from an animal from the eastern region of Surinam and definitely French Guiana. Along those lines, they feel the animals from the northern region of Suriname are different from the animals from the southern region of Suriname (same w/ Guyana and F.G.). Some would even argue that animals on different sides of a large river are different from each other.

That being said, for the average hobbyist, no, there is no difference and if you buy an animal from Guyana and you have a Suriname, go ahead and stick 'em together if you want to try to breed them. A couple of years ago, I asked this same question and I also asked if it would be logical or practical to group them all together and call them "northeastern bcc". Some people liked that idea, some didn't.

Years ago, before I even KNEW about the hobby, importers would sell purple, large saddled bcc as Guyana and animals that were pink or red bcc with large widows peaks as Suriname animals.

Now, I do not claim to be able to look at an animal and be able to say where it's from, or even where it's LIKELY from. I just go with what I'm told from the person I buy them from and that's what 99% of us have to do.

So, I think I'm done saying my piece on this.
