anyone have an exo-terra waterfall??

second_hand_rose Aug 02, 2003 03:33 PM

We just got an exo-terra waterfall for our veild and hooked it up in his cage. He instantly went and drank from it after a few hours the pump started making noises and I checked it and the water was all gone from the inside. Looking closer I saw that the water was running down the front funny and then down side (onto the bottom of our cage) and not circling back through the waterfall and pump.

I filled it again and turned the pump flow valve all the way down but on lowest setting it doesnt pump enough to even really see the water and on the nextsetting up it lets the water drip down the sides..

Does anyone else have this problem?? anf if so how can we fix it. Would hate to go back to the dripper after spending all this money.

Christa-

Well the good news is that at least he will drink from it. The bad news is that these water falls are notorious for causing problems. The big factor is that they grow bad bacteria FAST, and need to be cleaned at least once a week and new water every day. Also some chameleons will use it as a toilet and defecate in it then drink from it and this not good. Another problem is that your feeders will end up in the water die and cause the water to foul. So in all they cause more harm then they are worth. Most chameleons will not even drink from them. I would return it and get an automatic mister if you don't like the drippers. Hope this helps!
