Should I be able to feel the eggs or at least lumps?

Hi-
Gravid Jax are VERY good at hiding the fact that they are gravid. They don't show color differences like in the panthers or veileds. I would look for her to darken here colors, gape, rock back and forth at the sight of a male. Other things you can look for is the body shape, she will look like a light bulb, and you can also feel for the embryos in her. Hope this helps!

Yes that does help, as always, thanks. I've had the five for about two months now, they all sway "no" to the male, and don't eat an aweful lot. One red has been off food completely for about three weeks. I'm starting to worry. She is a small one and very "lightbulb" shaped, but I couldnt feel any lumps, like you can in cats and dogs etc. Probably just impatient, thinking about force feeding the her though if you think I need to, ain't three weeks a little long to be off food?
i've never actually bread jackson's before but a magazine article that i have says that very gravid females will have small black spots along the body and that they will bask more frequently and bask with her body at different angles then usual to keep the babies warm as well.
