Yes that is a good rule of thumb. From you post I am reading you have a neonate. IMO feed weekly, 1 hopper mouse to start with and if that is not enough, move on up in size. Better to feed one prey item but if you only have smaller food, then by all means feed two items. I have my own feeder colonies and will switch around from mice to rats depending on what's available. My yearling BRB holdbacks are kind of my feeder regulators, too many mice, they eat mice, too many rats, they eat rats. Bottom line, they always eat!!
>>Hi folks,
>>We've had our BRB for abour a month now. At first she wouldn't eat even after waiting about 8 to10 days after bringing her home. Tried a couple of times, no dice. She shed about a week ago and she finally ate. I gave hor two fuzzy mice F/T, one one evening and the next one the next day. She got them both down fine. Not much of a lump. The fuzzies I gave her were just a little bit smaller than her biggest part.

>>I was reading some post someplace that said to feed them something that is about the same size as the largest part of their bodies. Is this about right? Does this hold true even for rats?
