cutting eggs

jpman78 Jul 16, 2006 01:18 PM

What is the earliest someone has ever successfully cut their eggs? What is the day that MOST breeders cut their eggs?

Thanks!

I allow mine (most of the time) to pip on their own.

I wait until atleast one pips and then I cut the rest....usually it's only one or two that haven't pipped.

I've heard of some breeders getting antsy and cutting at day 50 or so. Typically I hear around day 55 @ 89 deg.

I was just curious if there was a concensus or not.

Thanks!

This topic has been discussed before. I'm not sure there is a consensus. Just what works for some and what works for others. Some say they have had full-term babies die in the egg. While others have said the babies died because they cut to soon. I have not had any issues. If an egg has not pipped around 4 days after the first pip, I may choose to manually pip the egg. For the most part, these guys take care of themselves.
