Cause of Leopard Gecko's Death

TinaTurtle Jul 17, 2006 12:57 PM

George, my friends' gecko, died while they were on vacation and I was responsible for their animals. I had pet-sat for them before many times.

I feed the fish and 2 cats. I'm always told not to feed George as he has several crickets in his tank. My friend says he doesn't need anything, but I fill his water dish when is low and check if he is ok. I don't know anything about geckos (I have tortoises & cats).

This morning I noticed he had passed away. His heating pad was working, he had water and crickets. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary the previous days, although he was always lying down and barely moved.

What could have gone wrong? How long do geckos live? I feel terrible that I did not recognize the signs of illness...

Even though it's too late please help...

Thanks in advance,

TT

Leopards will live a good 20 years under optimal conditions. Sorry but I can't really help about the cause of death.
