weird substance

snailqueen87 Jul 17, 2006 01:13 PM

In the last month or so I've found a weird substance in Snails tank, always a day or two after feeding, but before she's poo-ed. It's white ish and when it's dry looks kinda leathery but I've never seen it come out so don't know which end it's coming from!
It only started appearing after she got bumped up to small mice so I was thinking it may be the fur? Any ideas?

Its likely congealed fur, as you say. I often get that apart from the regular poop from many of my snakes.

The substance you are speaking of is urates. It is the equivalent of your snake urinating.

i don't think it is, cause that comes out as uric acid surely and is like powder. this is more of a solid thing - different consistency and colour. im thinking its the fur because it only started appearing when she was eating mice with lots of fur.
but thatnks for the response
