Calico beauty snakes??

ratsnakehaven Jul 17, 2006 05:11 PM

Anyone know who might be breeding calico Chinese beauties, Orthriophis taeniurus taeniurus, or how much the hatchlings are going for this season? Thanks much...

I would sell it for thousands! That is a gorgeous snake. You are the only person I know with those.

Seriously now, I want to say I saw some offered for $500-600 last year, but I could be wrong.

Thanks, I think she's a knockout too. Wish I didn't have to get rid of them.

I think the going price is $400 for a calico male and a het female.

Hey, thanks for the link. I wrote to Mike to ask about them. It looks like the price is way down from what I've seen just a year or two ago. I guess I'll rethink this.

You are welcome!

They are the most beautiful beauty mutants in my opinion! Are you producing a lot of them this year?

ratsnakehaven Jul 22, 2006 02:09 PM

Well, as I answered Mike, she did have a clutch of five, of which three are surviving. I think there was a fertility problem with the other two eggs. It is a fun snake to hatch out. I've had this species clutch before. I'm hoping there'll be at least one or two that come out calico. I like this mutant the best also.

I think Mike said he normally sold the babies for $300 calico, and $150 het, which sounds like a good price to me. I did have my adult female's price set at $750, but now I think I'm going to lower it to about $500. Thanks for your comments.
