Just got a Cuban Boa today at Hamburg. Anyone else into these beautiful Epicrates?

Hi. I just picked up a 4 foot female Angulifer today at the Hamburg show. She wasn't for sale. It was a pre-arranged trade. I just picked her up there. Anyway, she's awesome. Really nice pattern and coloration. I've always been interested in cubans and haitians but have never had the opportunity to own one. I'm really glad I do now. She's very interesting. I'm looking forward to keeping her and learning more about her. And hopefully finding a male for her someday. They seem to be very few and far between though. I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with them and could share some husbandry tips or any other comments, photos. This seems to be a very underrated and not too often seen species. And all the information I can find on them isn't very thorough. Most of it just says that they're rarely kept and very aggressive animals. This one I just got is very tame and curious. So there goes that. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks alot.

kottonmouthking,
. I think Cubans are very interesting and beautiful snakes. They can get very large. Adult females can be over 12 feet long. I have heard from a few people keeping them that they can be very tame most of the time but will occasionally be nasty. I think their care requirements are very much like the requirements for Boa Constrictors though possibly not quite as warm. If I had more time and cage space I would have some.

I've been looking for a male now to pair up with her eventually. They're nowhere. I was surprised at how easily I located the female I just got but I didn't realize how rare cubans are to find. That must have been pure luck. I looked on the internet. There are 2 breeders in the U.S. (that have websites, at least) All the others are from Germany and surrounding countries. I've emailed everyone I can find with a mention of breeding or available cubans and they're all gone. I've been searching for a suitable male southern copperhead for my very high pink female for going on 2 years now with no luck. Looks like there's another quest about to begin.

Kottonmouthking,
. I have seen Cubans at the Daytona show a couple times over the last few years. I catch Southern Copperheads here in Savannah pretty regularly. The specimens around here are very pretty. Most that I catch are small. Where are you located? You can have them for free but I will not ship or probe them.

I caught this one inside my garage. They like to come in to check out my rat breeding racks.
