I use Chlorahexadine, I don't know if it's spelled right.....But it is used as a disinfectant and is safe for animals as it is basically a mouth wash. I dilute it and use it to spay down and wash cages, and my partner uses it all the time with ball pythons.

We got ours from the Bean Farm, I believe it was $30 for a gallon. But the cheapest place I think is www.agri-med.com, and a gallon of 2%there is $20 the link is http://www.agri-med.com/site/255063/product/CHLOR2-1gal

My understanding is that Nolvasan is a a glutahexidine diacetate and is a viriside and a bactricide were is and chlohexidine glucanate is just a bactricide. That my guess why Nolvasan is more expensive.

We just use the Chloahexidine as it is adequate to our needs. When changing cages of suspected ill animals we use a 5% bleach solution but for everyday cleaning and maintaince the Chlorahexide works great, and I like the smell...LOL. Oh I probably spelled half of the words wrong...sorry!
