Any better?
Well, yesterday morning it was still closed and I was getting very worried...but just before I left for the day, I noticed it was all the way open and she looked completely normal. This morning, same thing...closed, but it's opening gradually...it seems to take her much longer to get that eye open in the morning. I'm not sure what's up with that, but I'm trying to keep humidity high by misting more often...I'll keep you posted. She still seems to be eating well.
Just checked and it's all the way open now...weird, huh?
Take care! Is Bart still doing well?
Kristen
Well, she's still keeping it halfway closed for parts of the day. So, something is still going on with her. I'm still trying to keep misting more often, but I haven't been spraying her...they seem to hate it so much...even when just some mist gets on them they suck their eyes in, close them and hunker down.
Anyway, I hope her eye gets back to normal soon...
Does anyone else have any other ideas? No one else ever replied besides you, Lele...I'm sure glad you're here...LOL!

jcunitz (the new Justin
) replied today. I opened the thread up again in the hopes that others would respond - cause I sure don't have all the answers! :/
bart's been keeping one closed, and sometimes both, intermittently and I attribute it mainly due to everything he has/is going thru but since I see no infection, discharge, discoloration I will assume for now that he's OK. Does yours have any other symptoms? which cham is it?

have either of you taken your cham to the vet yet?
I have not, as it's been over the weekend and she's been going back and forth. Yesterday morning, I thought she was just fine...then she started keeping the one eye slightly closed again today.
Well, so far, Lele and I have not had much good luck with vets with these little ones. (I'm assuming that you know that they are pygmy leaf chams) Not trying to speak for you here, Lele, but it's just my observation...LOL! I have a feeling with the lack of wonderful herp vets here and especially their lack of experience with the little ones, that they will look at me cross-eyed like "and what do you expect me to do with this little tiny thing"??? LOL! Not that I won't take her...I will, but I need to feel like she could benefit some from the trip to the vet rather than just make her worse with the additional stress.
Thanks!!! I'm going to try warm misting her for longer tomorrow....she's going to hate me! LOL!
Kristen
I checked this morning, but I gave up on checking for more replies...LOL!
This is my older girl, Aubie...not my little youngster (who still is not named, by the way).
No other symptoms...she had been moving around and hunting well, but today, she really just stayed in the same place all day. From this afternoon on, she really sat in the same exact position. Earlier today, she had been moving to get closer to crix, but still in the same area.
Hopefully she'll be better tomorrow.
Thanks
Kristen
most chams, especially veileds, seem to "hate" getting wet. you need to directly mist them for at least 3-5 minutes, then, they will actually start to drink the water as it runs off their head. they need it to last a little while. i have a pump mister that sprays 1/2 gallon and i have gone through it on just 2 chams at a time. also thoroughly soak the leaves and plants in the enclosure. this will create "rain drops" in the cage, making your cham feel like it is actually raining around them, getting them to drink.
Hi Justin,
just so you know some history here...both Kristen and I have R. brevi's (wow is my italics arrogant? I just realized that I take the time to always italicize scientific names...don't mean to be snobby, it is the "scientist" in me. When learning the latin/greek names for plants, insects, etc. for a grade you get in the habit of always doing it RIGHT! LOL! I know you aren't grading me but I guess habit is habit - hey , my former professor's would be proud
!). The idea of misting directly for 3-5 minutes would drown them
. The whole dripper thing makes a soggy mess in a terrarium so the drinking from the leaf thing is better.
Not to speak for Kristen, but I am sure she will go to a vet when needed - she obsesses as much as I do about our little leafs. She and I got ours just a short time apart from one another and have truly "bonded" thru all our failures and successes (Kristen, there have been successes, right :-/ ?
Anyway...Bart's health issues can be learned in previous threads and his eye thing is not currently a concern for me b/c they are open as much as closed and via a handlens there is no problem. As for Kristen's...well, she just told you
Thanks much for your input and experience!

LOL! Lele, yes, in my eyes there have been successes...my two are still alive at the moment, right? Seeing my past luck, that in itself is a success...hehehe!
And Bart is doing well...so far, he's been a success...and hopefully things will keep heading that direction.
I think I'm just going to warm mist around her so that some of it gets on her...but not directly...what do you think? You don't think that is too much, do you?
Thanks!!!
Kristen
P.S. Something funny...I posted something about "not trying to speak for Lele, but..." above...hahaha!
