Hypomelanistic King Rats at Last!!

TomD Jul 18, 2006 09:19 AM

I have been working on these snakes for 8 years and finally the F2 generation has laid eggs and produced these. It came out the exact 1:3 ratio so the rest of the clutch of normals has a 66% chance to be hets. it is going to be interesting to see these babies grow up and change to adult coloration.

I don't know of anyone else who has these. If anyone knows someone who is working with color morphs of king rats please let me know.

Major Congratulations. I bet you feel like king for a day today! Really great to see your long wait be rewarded with a nice group of snakes. Tom Stevens

Congrats! Those guys are SAWEEEET!
I know Larry Keller has bred albinos for a while which look much like those you hatched out. Do yours have dark pupils? Any chance you could post a pic of an adult. Thanks for posting them. Randy W.

This is actually the grandmother. She didn't breed this year, but hopefully next year once the het male has gotten larger.

That snake looks really nice! Too bad about the general attitude of this species though.
