Ideas for corn cage?

Gnagflow Jul 18, 2006 04:14 PM

I want to build a new enclosure for a corn snake. Does anybody have any ideas? I'm thinking of building the enclosure out of wood and some sort of transparent material in the front. And also, i don't want to spend alot of money.

a 20 gallon long aquarium with screen lid and 4 clips is good.....

if you are just getting one or you wnt to actually show off the snakes and see them .....tanks are good..

if you breed and or have alot of snakes......racks are good....

.......20 long or 20 highs.....or more

I built a corn cage out of a old book shelf i had in the basement. I took all the shelves out then drilled holes in the sides for aircirculation. Put a light in it. Then put plexy glass where the opening was. I held it there with velcrow. It worked perfectly

The June 2006 Reptiles Magazine has a great article about how to build a snake cage out of an old dresser. It has a ton of great tips and ideas for a relatively inexpensive but very decorative cage. I really wish I would have read it before I built this cage. I used 2X4's as a base, and plywood everywhere else. An old dresser would have saved me a lot of time. A hint if you are gonna build it like this one, where it opens in the back. I have this one on casters, so it rolls. I have all the lights running to one power cord, so they can be put on one timer to shut off all at the same time. Other than that, make sure you use plenty of polyurathane to seal the wood.
