Feeding HELP!

burnouthappy Jul 18, 2006 06:44 PM

I bought a Ball Python about a month ago, he is just over a foot long, and hasnt eaten yet. The pet store said that he was due for a feeding. Ive been looking around for baby mice and cant seem to find any. I have tried frozen ones but he wont eat them. I have even left him in a box with the thawed out baby overnight and no luck. He seems to be very weak as of now and his skin is pretty flimsy. He has a hard time holding himself up. I dont know what i can do to get him to eat. I have moss in the cage that i keep wet and a good sized water bowl. Anyone have any tip?

if ur using a thawed mouse my sure it's warm or else they won't touch it. if that doesn't work try to get a small live mouse.

ok, my text didn't show up...

If he is that weak, and can't hold himself up, you need to take him to your local herp vet. The vet will likely tube feed him. After he builds some strength, if he still won't eat, you'll need to assist feed him. Have the vet explain how to do this. Usually, after a few assist feedings, they'll start feeding on their own.
