why would you want to house the sulcata in a 20 long if you have a tortoise table for the little guy? In general, tortoises don't do as well in glass aquariums. I rescued a russian tortoise about a month ago, and all I had to spare was a large glass aquarium (which she's in for now), and I hate that she's living in that, so I'm going to build her a nice tortoise table (with a top, to keep the cat out). I don't even really like the fact that my young russian's enclosure has plexiglass front doors, even though they don't seem to cause a problem for him.

So, I'm just curious about the reasoning behind it.

well i had him 4*2 with walmanized wood and after i found out it was bad i found a old book shelf and made that the 2*3 but i just thought the glass tank was more nice.

Sulcatas cannot be kept healthy in an aquarium. They require fresh air flow and the air in a tank stagnates and is not suitable. It is also impossible to create the range of temperatures required in a tank. Outside of keeping your Sulcata outside, a tortoise table is best.

And you know this how????

If it is a hatchling it can do fantasticly in a 20 gal long for a year or 2 depending on how warm you keep it and how often you feed it.

When I need to house box turtle indoors temporarily I've kept them in the largest Rubbermaid tub I could find which was the 28 gallon.
I like this because they can't see out so they don't freak out trying to get out of the tub all the time. I don't keep the lid on it, that way I can clip lights or heaters onto it as needed.

I can set it up comfortably for them for a low price. I like the light weight too because that makes it easy to clean.
When I can get them outdoors I have the tub still here in case of a box turtle emergency.
I like my glass aquariums for other species to live in full time but when it comes to turtles in a temporary home I really like the ease of the cheap Rubbermaid.
