sick baby--any advice?

My 9-month-old eastern box has always been an extremely active and voracious eater. In the last couple of days, however, I suspect that he has come down with a mild respiratory infection. At times, he seems completely normal. Other times, however, he begins to open-mouth breathe and is generally non-responsive and not interested in food. If I hold his mouth shut, a very small amount of clear liquid might trickle out his nose. This does not seem actue yet, but I am worried.

It has been a cold summer, so I have brought the constant temperature up in his terrarium ranging from 80 deg. to probably 90 degrees right where the bulb hits. I am soaking him more often. From what I have read, this sounds more like a Vitamin A problem than a purely biotic one (clear vs. snotty liquid). He eats everything, however, so I'm not convinced he has a deficiency. Could he?

Other than the heat, how can I try and get more Vitamin A into him? Are there any other suggestions? I will try and treat him a couple of days on my own, and then take him to the vet if things do not improve. Please help me in the meantime!

Forgot to add this: no, his eyes seem fine. The fact that his eyes are okay leads me to believe that this is, so far, a fairly mild respiratory problem. Am I right?

I don't have personal experience with babies, but from what I've read, you've done the right thing by boosting the temperature. I've also heard other keepers suggest putting vitamins in the bath water for them. Sounds like you're on the right track til you can get it to a vet.
Hopefully you'll get more input soon: keep us posted.
Good luck!
