What do you think???

crimsonking Jul 19, 2006 01:04 PM

I went to a friend's house this afternoon to pick up a snake and after we talked about what we each had hatched so far, I mentioned I hatched out some goini.
He said "me too".
"I didn't think you had goini!" I said.
"Well I don't, but I hatched some that sure look like a "tangerine goini!
Well, I just had to see what the heck he was talkin' about.
He showed me this guy and some other similar ones as well. The clutchmates included hypos and other killer animals.....
...All from Normal looking FL kings!

Hmmm well I think we dont know enough about the parents. Are they WC ? Where did they originate from ? I agree that looks like a Goini superficially much like my Easterns but it looks more like a Florida/Brooksi X Blotched King. My guess is there is soem Goini in his mix from maybe the grandparents ??? Who really knows and as much as Brooksi have been messed with nothing suprises me anymore. Its one of the reasons I dont work with Brooksi anymore.

Mark, I'd be interested in knowing if the parents were WC or not as well. Thanks for sharing!

..I guess I should not have said "What do you think?" when all I wanted was a response to the looks of the snake itself..not whether anyone would call it goini.
Obviously, looks alone do not make it one and I was not implying it was either. Just a general description, ya know
I think it's a beauty. If he is able to selectively breed ones that look like this, I'll want to see every one!

Mark,

Did you ever see the aberrant FL Kings I hatched out from a WC gravid female several years back? I figured you've probably seen them in person. They didn't look quite like the one you posted but either way, I kind of wish I had held onto them.

Sweet looking snake. Does look like a brooks goini cross. A generation or two of selective breeding you might even get some hypo patternless out of them. Speaking of killer snakes, has anyone seen a patternless Blaze phase goini yet.

crimsonking Jul 19, 2006 02:29 PM

...all the blaze I've seen were patterned for sure. Interesting..
The guy with the snake in the pic will be right next to you at the show..I'll be down (about 6 tables) on your side also.
Don't forget the king!

But STILL beautiful little guys. (I'd take one of them!)I think they'll lighten up some as they age. The only question is: How much? It'll be intersting to see how they look later on.

They do look a little goini-ish but nice looking nonetheless.

Well, Mark, it's like the Florida king version of Frank the Tank. (Will Still's monster wide-banded Eastern King)

Thinking a little harder though, I do know that a friend of yours produced some "hypo brooks" X "dream king" het hypos a few years back. I saw one of the normal hets from that that breeding a couple years back as a subadult, and other than some dreamish colors, it didn't look all that different from a regular Florida king. I guess this could be the result of that cross. And hey, its been speculate/stated that some evolution of dream kings had goini in them.

I could be wrong, but either way I am going to give you a call sometime soon.

foxturtle Jul 20, 2006 02:29 AM

I think it's pretty damn cool looking. I want one. Gimme, gimme.
