Is it ok to use any sprayer that you pick up at a hardware store etc if nothing has been used in it? I picked this up today and wanted to make sure before I even opened it.

They work wonderfully, I use a similar one for my little zoo. Sometimes there are some mold oils (mold as in manufacturing molds) left in the containers.. so I would wash it out really well with hot water a couple of times before using it..

I use one occasionally for yardwork and for snakes it should do a nice job.

Jonathan,
....I had one sorta like that. Shorter and stouter lookin. Prolly a different overseas maker too. I used it a lot. I blew that sucker up pumping it up too high though. Luckily I had just set it down when it blew. The biggest piece of plastic cracked a glass front on one of my cages. The one I bought to replace it will not pump up so much pressure and does not hold pressure for more than a few days which is a real disappointment.
