I'm going to have a chance to acquire some Rosaliea from a good friend of mine this summer. I was just curios for those of you that have experience with them how are they? What are the odds and ends?
I’m also looking at some Rideyli…. Ahh Ratsnakes.

I would love to have some Baja Ratsnakes some day. I have heard from other Baja Rat keepers that they are VERY similar to Transpecos Ratsnakes in their natural history and care. You should be able to find some good information on keeping Transpecos Ratsnakes. I keep lots of transpecos ratsnakes and the only trick is to feed the offspring live pinkies or fuzzies as opposed to thawed and to keep the adults warm and dry.

Interesting. I have never heard that before. Mind if I ask why you recommend feeding live to the youngsters? I have always raised mine on thawed, unless of course they refuse to eat anything other than live.
Thanks!

In my experience (which has only been 5 seasons with subocs), is that starting the hatchlings off on live pinks/fuzzies gets them feeding better and quicker. I have had more difficulty getting the hatchlings to feed on frozen thawed mice right from the start. I usually let them get used to feeding on live, grow a little bit and then switch them to thawed pinks/fuzzies. Do yours all accept thawed as their first meals?
All of my subocs have started out on F/T, but I have to admit that I use forceps to feed, so they do get the movement stimuli. I have a friend with several, and he feeds F/
T, also. In fact, I have a yearling female that eats VERY well (3 fuzzies last night) if they are F/T, but is terrified of anything alive - she's so cute! As far as the original question, I dont keep bajas (yet - soon I hope), but from what I've heard, I'd have to agree - very suboc like in alot of ways.
Good luck!
Josh
