weird markings on american gator

I just got An american alligator from a pet shop. It's about 3ft long. It looked normal until I notice a small whit patch in the middle of it's side. It just looks like there is no color in the pigment. I have seen houndreds of american gators and never seen any thing like this before. I would post a picture of it but hte ex took the camera. I will try to post one soon.
