Hognose constricting?

buddygrout Jul 20, 2006 10:20 AM

I have a pair of western hognose. I have been feeding them pinkies and fuzzies. The male is getting a bit larger than the female as he eats more. I recently bought a hopper for him.
He grabbed it by the rear like he usually does and when it started trying to get away he wrapped around it with 3 loops. It didn't look real tight like a king or corn but was definitely squeezing. Has anyone else noticed this with hodnoses?

I dont think that he is acutally constricting to kill, more to just get a better grip on it. Like when you eat food, you usually dont only use your head. You may use a fork so you can get a better grip on it.

...i had to laugh at that witty-to put it nicely- response....no i have not seen nor heard of this in hoggies.but it is very interesting!hell that sounds like a better job of constricting than i've seen various subsp. of milks show!wish you'd got some pics....consider having your camera ready next time you feed it,keep us posted.
