Freshly shed Dusky Pygmy Rattler..

Kestrel Jul 20, 2006 03:11 PM

My new female Dusky.. She was in shed when I recieved her, so with-held from posting some photos here until she finished. I'm only sad that she's rattle-less. Looks like it was snapped off at the base, nothing left for a rattle to build on just a tiny point. Ah well. She still tries. lol.

Nice dusky-I've heard of others missing the rattle-maybe it's more common for the species than other rattlers?

what a lil' beauty.yeah i've seen almost as many pigmies without ratles as with them.....in fact, too often for it to be coincidental, might be an evolution they're in the midst of,ala crotalus catalinensis?or are they just so fragile due to their tiny size?dunno.
